An event only lasts a day, sometimes a weekend. But the video from it can work for you all year, bringing people back next time and convincing new visitors to buy a ticket in the first place. That's the real value of event videography. It's not just a record of what happened, it's marketing for what happens next.

What is event videography?

Event videography is the filming and editing of live events, such as festivals, motorsport meets, brand activations, and public shows, into a finished video (or set of videos) used for marketing, recaps, and social media. Unlike a wedding or corporate video, event videography usually has one main goal: capture the energy of the day well enough that people who weren't there wish they had been, and people who were there want to come back.

Why event video matters more than people expect

Photos can show what an event looked like. Video shows what it felt like. The noise, the movement, the reactions on people's faces, that's what makes someone scrolling on their phone stop and actually watch. For events that rely on ticket sales or repeat visitors, that difference matters commercially, not just creatively.

Making attendees the stars of the story

One of the most effective approaches I've used is putting the focus on the people at the event, not just the event itself. When I filmed for Monopoly Events in the Midlands, the goal wasn't a generic highlights reel. It was a fan-focused video that made attendees themselves the stars of the story. People are far more likely to share and re-watch a video when they can see themselves, their friends, or people just like them enjoying the experience. It also does something a polished promotional video alone can't: it builds trust, because it shows real people having a real time, not just a produced version of the event.

Events I've filmed

Over the past few years I've filmed a wide range of events, including:

  • ComicCon by Monopoly Events - fan-focused event video
  • Music and food festivals across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire
  • The Secret Farm, numerous different types of events
  • The British Jetsport Championship
  • Motocross events
  • Rugby matches
  • Automotive shows
  • Music events
Each of these needed a different approach. A food festival benefits from close, sensory shots of stalls and crowds - people enjoying themselves with friends and family, soaking in the atmosphere . Motorsport and jetsport events need fast-paced, action-focused filming that captures speed and atmosphere. Sport events like rugby needs a camera that follows the flow of the game and the moments that matter, not just the wide simple shots. Knowing which approach fits which event is a big part of what makes event video actually work, rather than just look nice.

Local event videography, and beyond

Based in Biggleswade, I cover events across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire regularly, and travel further for events like Monopoly Events in the Midlands and motorsport races around the country. Whether your event is a local community festival or a national motorsport championship, the same approach applies: capture footage that works hard for you after the event ends, not just on the day itself.

What event video can do for your business or event

  • Encourage returning visitors, by showing the atmosphere and experience they'll remember
  • Convince new visitors, by proving the event is worth attending before they've bought a ticket
  • Build a library of content, that can be cut into social clips, recap videos, and next year's promotional material
  • Strengthen sponsorship and partner relationships, with professional footage sponsors can use themselves

Planning video for your next event

Good event video isn't about filming everything and hoping something usable comes out of it. It starts with a clear idea of what the footage needs to achieve, whether that's ticket sales, sponsor content, or building a following around the event itself. That plan shapes everything from where I position myself on the day to how the final video gets edited and delivered.
